Motivational Quotes - Energy Drinks For the Mind
Motivational quotes can be found anywhere from calendars to
books, coffee mugs to websites. A couple of lines offered to inspire those who
read them appear in virtually every medium of expression. What makes these
quotations so popular and widespread? Can they work? Can people read these
quotes and suddenly become more effective, perform better, or more appealing?
The simple answer is no. Just reading encouraging words does not bring
immediate rewards. Motivation just does not work like that. Why are they so
common?
From time to time, everyone needs a little encouragement and
for most, inspirational quotations might just be the answer. They provide just
a tiny dose of excitement to help get somebody through a tough time or energize
them to complete a specific challenge. Much like beverage manufacturers offer
energy beverages to supply consumers with a mid-day pick me up, these little
motivational blurbs are supposed to energize the mind. They often come from
successful individuals and give a glimpse into the way they achieved or
overcame. Unfortunately, much like a power drink, the consequences don't last
forever.
Far more effective than inspirational quotations are the
purpose, one feels in a specific activity. Not that quotations meant to inspire
are not useful, because they indeed can be useful. Nevertheless, as a power
drink cannot replace a proper night's sleep, these quotations can't replace
purpose. Goal is what drives and truly motivates a person. A quote from someone
that has been at a similar location or situation can offer reminders of
purpose, but it cannot replace it completely. Someone can find inspiration at a
quote, a chant, or even a prayer, but inspiration might not hold if no larger
purpose lies under.
